Richard Jones

 

Richard was born in Suffolk and has been involved with choral music for as long as he can remember. At the age of 13 he sang in the chorus for the original production of Britten’s Noye’s Fludde, conducted by the composer.Richard studied at the Royal College of Music, graduating from the University of London; his teachers included the composer Herbert Howells. In 1974, Richard was appointed Director of Music at QEH School, a post he held until 2010; during that time his work included tours abroad and broadcasts. In 1988 Richard was musical director for Clifton Town, a new opera staged at the Bristol Old Vic, and in 1989 he was given a British Council award to study music education in Hungary.Richard has wide-ranging musical (and other) interests, and has written extensively on ballet music for a dance website. Richard joined us in 2011.
